New Home Landscaping:

Grape Tree Road, Hampton

The Brief

These clients had recently completed building their home on a stunning acreage property in Hampton, just on the outskirts of Toowoomba. Practical and capable people themselves, they were eager to learn more about plant selection and landscaping, so they engaged me to create the garden design — then took on the hard work of bringing the plans to life themselves.

The goal with their new home landscaping was to transform the front yard and main entrance with attractive, water-wise planting that would be low maintenance while providing lasting colour, interest, and appeal throughout the seasons.

The Result

A palette of grey, pinks, mauve, white and soft blues was chosen to compliment the earth tones and textures seen in the stone wall, gravel pathway and Corten water feature. The contemporary lines of the house were softened by a meandering wide open gravel pathway leading up to the front door with hints of interest seen in brighter feature grevilleas and artworks set amongst the lower shrubs in the garden beds. The patio garden took on a more formal appearance with a low neat hedge of lavender wrapping around the seating area and a beautiful elegant Wisteria creeper climbing up the timber pergola in order to provide shade cover. The fire pit area sits nestled amongst a planting of Pennisetium Rubra grasses whilst overlooking a magnificent 360 view of the forest below and surrounding bushland.
